Billing & Payment Policy
Payment Policy
A transparent, detailed account of how we collect, process, and protect every payment made at yourhairandwig.com — for customers in the United States and Canada.
What This Policy Covers
At Your Hair And Wig, every transaction processed through yourhairandwig.com is handled with transparency, security, and strict compliance with US and Canadian payment regulations. This Payment Policy explains precisely how your payment is collected, processed, protected, and — where applicable — refunded.
Our store is powered by Shopify, one of the world's most trusted e-commerce platforms, and all payment processing occurs through Shopify's Level 1 PCI DSS-certified infrastructure. We ship exclusively to addresses in the United States and Canada. This policy applies to all orders, regardless of the payment method selected at checkout.
We do not store your full card number, CVV, or bank account details on our servers at any time. All sensitive payment data is tokenized and handled entirely within Shopify's certified payment environment. If you have a question about a charge, an unrecognized transaction, or the status of a refund, please contact our team before initiating a chargeback — we resolve billing concerns promptly and transparently.
Governing Laws & Regulations
This policy is informed by and maintained in compliance with the following primary legal authorities in the US and Canada:
- Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA), 15 U.S.C. §§ 1666–1666j
- Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA) / Regulation E, 15 U.S.C. § 1693
- Truth in Lending Act (TILA) / Regulation Z, 15 U.S.C. § 1601
- FTC Act — Unfair or Deceptive Acts, 15 U.S.C. § 45
- PIPEDA — Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (S.C. 2000, c. 5)
- Payment Card Networks Act (PCNA), S.C. 2010, c. 12, s. 1834 & FCAC Code of Conduct
Accepted Payment Methods
We accept 14 payment methods to give every customer a convenient, secure checkout experience. All methods are processed through Shopify's PCI DSS Level 1-certified payment environment. Select the method that works best for you at checkout.
Credit & Debit Cards
We accept all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club, Elo, and UnionPay. Both credit and debit cards bearing these network logos are accepted. Prepaid cards on these networks are generally supported, though your issuing bank controls final authorization. Cards must be valid at the time of checkout and must have sufficient available credit or funds to cover the full order amount.
Digital Wallets
Apple Pay is available on Safari browsers and Apple devices. Google Pay is available on Chrome and compatible Android devices. PayPal is accepted for customers who prefer to checkout through their PayPal account without entering card details directly. All three digital wallet methods are processed through Shopify's secure checkout. Wallet-stored cards are subject to the same authorization and fraud checks as directly entered cards.
Shop Pay & Amazon Pay
Shop Pay (powered by Shopify) allows returning customers to check out instantly using a saved email address and a one-time verification code. It offers optional installment payments on qualifying orders (subject to eligibility and terms set by Shop Pay's lending partner, Affirm). Amazon Pay lets you use the payment and shipping information already saved in your Amazon account, enabling a fast checkout without re-entering your details on our site.
USDC (Digital Currency)
USDC (USD Coin) is a regulated, US dollar-backed digital currency issued by Circle Internet Financial. One USDC is always equivalent to one US dollar. USDC payments on our platform are processed exclusively through Shopify's supported payment infrastructure. USDC is not a speculative cryptocurrency — its value is pegged 1:1 to the US dollar and fully reserved. Canadian customers selecting USDC may see a Canadian-to-US dollar exchange applied at the rate in effect at the time of checkout. USDC availability is subject to your browser and wallet compatibility.
Currencies, Pricing & Total Cost
All prices displayed on yourhairandwig.com are listed in United States Dollars (USD). The price you see on the product page, confirmed in your cart, and charged at checkout will always be in USD. There are no hidden fees added at checkout beyond applicable sales tax or GST/HST, which are clearly itemized before you confirm your order.
The total amount charged to your payment method is the sum of: (1) the product subtotal, (2) applicable sales tax or Canadian GST/HST/QST, and (3) any shipping charges as shown at checkout. No service fees, payment surcharges, or processing fees are added to your order total. We do not charge more for any particular payment method.
All product prices are inclusive of our cost of goods. We do not use deceptive reference pricing, inflated "original" prices, or manufactured discount schemes. The price displayed is the real price at the time of purchase. Promotional discounts applied via valid coupon codes will be clearly deducted from your subtotal before tax is calculated.
Information for Canadian Customers
All transactions are processed in US Dollars (USD). If you are paying from a Canadian bank account or card:
- Your bank or card issuer will convert the USD amount to CAD at their applicable exchange rate at the time of settlement.
- Your bank may apply a foreign transaction or currency conversion fee. We have no control over these fees, and they are not charged by Your Hair And Wig.
- Canadian GST, HST, or QST (where applicable) is collected in addition to the USD product price. See the Tax section below for full details.
- Refunds, if applicable, are issued in USD. Your bank will convert the returned amount to CAD at the rate in effect at the time of refund processing.
No Hidden Charges — Ever
We do not add payment surcharges, checkout fees, or administrative charges of any kind. The total shown on the checkout review page is the exact amount you will be charged. This practice is consistent with the FTC's Negative Option and Deceptive Pricing rules and the Canadian Competition Act's misleading advertising provisions.
How the Checkout & Billing Process Works
Our checkout is powered by Shopify and follows a clear, transparent sequence. Your payment is never charged until you explicitly confirm your order on the final review page.
Browse & Add to Cart
Explore our full catalog at yourhairandwig.com/collections/all. Add items to your cart. The subtotal shown in your cart is in USD and reflects the current product price before tax and shipping. No payment information is collected at this stage.
Enter Shipping Details
Proceed to checkout and enter your shipping address. We ship to addresses in the United States and Canada only. Shipping costs, estimated delivery windows, and applicable taxes are calculated and displayed after you enter your address — before any payment step.
Select Payment Method
Choose from any of our 14 accepted payment methods. Enter your payment details in Shopify's secure, encrypted payment form. Your card number and CVV are transmitted directly to Shopify's PCI DSS-certified servers using TLS 1.2+ encryption. We never see or store your raw card data.
Review Your Order
Before completing your purchase, you will see a complete order summary showing the item(s), quantities, subtotal, discount (if any), shipping cost, applicable taxes, and the exact total to be charged. This is your final opportunity to review and modify your order.
Confirm & Submit
Click "Complete Order" to authorize the charge. Your payment method is charged at this moment. For card payments, an authorization request is sent to your card issuer. If the authorization is approved, your order is accepted and submitted for processing. You will receive an order confirmation email immediately.
Confirmation & Receipt
An order confirmation email is sent to the address you provided at checkout within minutes of a successful payment. This email serves as your receipt and includes your order number, itemized purchase summary, billing total, shipping address, and estimated delivery information. Save this email for your records.
Transaction Security & Payment Data Protection
Payment security is not optional at Your Hair And Wig — it is a core operating requirement. All payment data transmitted through our checkout is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1.2 or higher, which provides 256-bit AES encryption between your browser and Shopify's servers. You can verify the secure connection by the padlock icon displayed in your browser's address bar.
Our payment infrastructure is operated by Shopify, which holds a Level 1 PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) certification — the highest level of security certification available in the card payment industry. This means every aspect of how your card data is processed, transmitted, and stored meets or exceeds the strictest industry requirements.
We do not receive, store, or have access to your full card number, card verification value (CVV/CVC), or bank account routing information. When you enter these details at checkout, they are transmitted directly to Shopify's secure vault and converted into a payment token. The token — not your card details — is what we use to process your transaction. This approach is known as payment tokenization and is the industry standard for protecting cardholders.
3D Secure Authentication
Certain transactions may trigger 3D Secure authentication (also known as Verified by Visa, Mastercard Identity Check, or American Express SafeKey). This is an additional identity verification step initiated by your card issuer, not by us. If prompted, follow your issuer's on-screen instructions to authenticate the transaction. Completing this step provides additional protection under your card's zero-liability policy.
PCI DSS Level 1
Shopify's infrastructure is audited and certified at the highest level of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. No card data is stored on our servers.
256-bit SSL / TLS
All data exchanged between your browser and our checkout is protected by TLS 1.2+ with AES-256 encryption — the same standard used by financial institutions.
Payment Tokenization
Your card details are replaced with a secure token upon entry. We never see your full card number. Tokens cannot be reverse-engineered to retrieve original card data.
Fraud Screening
Every order is screened using Shopify's built-in fraud analysis tools, including Address Verification Service (AVS) and CVV matching, to detect and block unauthorized transactions.
Payment Authorization & Billing Timing
Your payment method is charged at the time you complete your order — not when your item ships. Specifically, when you click "Complete Order," we submit an authorization request to your card issuer or payment provider. Once approved, the funds are captured immediately. You will not be charged if your order is rejected at checkout.
For credit card payments, the charge will appear on your statement as YOURHAIRANDWIG or a similar merchant name as recognized by your card network. The charge reflects the full order total including applicable taxes. If you do not recognize a charge, please call us at +1 561-810-0428 or email info@yourhairandwig.com before disputing the charge with your bank.
If an order is placed and subsequently canceled by us (for example, due to a stock discrepancy or fraud flag), the full charge will be refunded to your original payment method. Refund processing times vary by payment method — see the Refund Processing section below.
Pre-Authorization Holds
In some cases — particularly for debit card transactions — your bank may place a temporary authorization hold on your account for the order amount before the final charge is settled. This is a standard bank practice, not an additional charge.
- Authorization holds are typically released within 3–5 business days if the order is canceled before capture.
- The hold release timeline is controlled by your bank, not by us. We cannot expedite your bank's internal hold release process.
- If you believe a hold has been incorrectly applied or has not been released after 7 business days, contact your bank directly and provide the authorization reference number from your order confirmation email.
Partial Shipments
If your order contains multiple items and one or more are temporarily out of stock, we may fulfill and charge for in-stock items first and process the remaining items separately. In this case, you will receive a separate order confirmation for each shipment and charge. We do not charge for items that are ultimately unavailable — you will receive a partial refund for any unfulfilled items.
Failed Payments & Declined Transactions
A declined payment does not result in a charge. If your payment is declined at checkout, no funds are taken from your account. The following are the most common reasons for payment failures and what you can do to resolve them.
Incorrect Card Details
Ensure that the card number, expiration date, and CVV/CVC you enter exactly match the information on your physical card. A single digit error will cause the transaction to be declined. Verify that the billing address you enter matches the address on file with your card issuer — this is used for Address Verification Service (AVS) checking.
Insufficient Funds or Credit
Your card or bank account must have sufficient available credit or funds to cover the full order total, including applicable taxes. For debit cards, your bank may also apply daily transaction limits. If you suspect this is the cause of a decline, contact your bank to confirm your available balance and whether any transaction limits apply to online or international purchases.
Card Issuer Decline or Fraud Block
Your card issuer may automatically decline online or cross-border transactions as a fraud prevention measure, particularly for first-time purchases with an unfamiliar merchant. If your card is declined, we recommend calling the number on the back of your card to notify your bank that the transaction is authorized, then attempting the checkout again. Your bank's decision to authorize is final — we cannot override issuer declines.
What to Do After a Decline
If your payment is declined: (1) double-check your card details and billing address, (2) try a different accepted payment method, (3) contact your card issuer if the issue persists. You may also contact our support team at info@yourhairandwig.com or +1 561-810-0428 for assistance. We cannot see the specific reason for a decline — that information is held only by your bank.
Sales Tax (USA) & GST/HST (Canada)
Applicable taxes are calculated automatically at checkout based on your shipping address and displayed clearly before you confirm payment. We comply with US state sales tax obligations arising from the South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. (2018) Supreme Court ruling and with all Canadian federal and provincial indirect tax requirements.
United States — Sales Tax
We are registered to collect sales tax in US states where we have established economic nexus (generally $100,000 in annual sales or 200 or more transactions in a calendar year, per the Wayfair standard). Our home state is Florida (6% state rate + local surtax), where we are required to collect and remit sales tax regardless of transaction volume.
Sales tax is calculated on the product subtotal and, where applicable, on shipping charges, in accordance with state-specific rules. Tax-exempt customers (e.g., resellers holding a valid exemption certificate) must contact us at info@yourhairandwig.com before placing an order to apply their exemption. We do not retroactively refund sales tax already collected on completed orders.
The exact tax amount for your order is always shown at checkout before you submit payment. Tax rates may change with legislation — the rate applied at the time of your transaction is the rate in effect for your delivery address on that date.
Canada — GST, HST & Provincial Taxes
| Province / Territory | Tax Type | Combined Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Ontario | HST | 13% |
| British Columbia | GST + PST | 12% |
| Alberta | GST only | 5% |
| Quebec | GST + QST | 14.975% |
| Nova Scotia | HST | 15% |
| New Brunswick | HST | 15% |
| Newfoundland & Labrador | HST | 15% |
| Manitoba | GST + RST | 12% |
| Saskatchewan | GST + PST | 11% |
| Prince Edward Island | HST | 15% |
| Yukon / NWT / Nunavut | GST only | 5% |
Rates shown reflect standard combined rates as of June 2026. All tax rates are subject to legislative changes.
Promotional Codes & Discount Application
Promotional discount codes issued by Your Hair And Wig may be entered in the designated discount code field at checkout. The discount is applied to your product subtotal before sales tax and shipping are calculated. The discounted subtotal, applicable tax, shipping cost, and final order total are all displayed on the checkout review page before payment is submitted.
Only one promotional code may be used per order. Codes are case-insensitive, are not transferable, and have no cash value. If a code has an expiration date, that date is defined by the terms of the specific promotion under which the code was issued. Expired codes are automatically rejected at checkout — no adjustment will be made after an order is placed using an expired code.
Promotional discounts apply only to eligible products as specified in the terms of the relevant promotion. Discounts do not apply to shipping charges unless the promotion explicitly states otherwise. We do not retroactively apply discount codes to orders already submitted.
How to Apply a Discount Code
- 1 Add your items to the cart and proceed to checkout.
- 2 On the checkout page, locate the "Discount code or gift card" field in the order summary panel.
- 3 Enter your code exactly as provided and click "Apply." The discount will be deducted from your subtotal immediately.
- 4 Verify the discounted total on the order review page before completing your purchase.
Price Integrity Statement
All promotional pricing at Your Hair And Wig is genuine. We do not artificially inflate "original" prices to manufacture a false sense of discount. Advertised savings represent true reductions from our standard selling price. This practice is consistent with the FTC's regulations on deceptive pricing and Canada's Competition Act, Section 74.01.
Fraud Prevention & Identity Verification
We take fraud prevention seriously to protect both our customers and our business. The following security measures are applied to every order placed on yourhairandwig.com.
CVV / CVC Verification
The 3 or 4-digit card verification value (CVV2/CVC2) is required for all card-present payments. This value is not stored anywhere in our system after the transaction is processed. Its purpose is to confirm that the person placing the order has the physical card in their possession.
Address Verification Service (AVS)
The billing address you provide at checkout is compared against the billing address registered with your card issuer through the Address Verification Service (AVS). A significant mismatch may result in the transaction being flagged for manual review or declined for security reasons.
Shopify Fraud Analysis
Shopify's built-in fraud detection engine assigns a risk score to every order based on multiple signals including IP location, device fingerprint, email history, and payment behavior. Orders flagged as high-risk are held for manual review before fulfillment. We may contact you to verify your identity before shipping a flagged order.
3D Secure Authentication
Where your card issuer supports it, we use 3D Secure (EMV 3-D Secure 2.0), known as Verified by Visa, Mastercard Identity Check, or Amex SafeKey, to add an extra layer of identity verification. Successfully completing 3D Secure authentication shifts liability for unauthorized transactions to your card issuer and provides you additional zero-liability protection.
Order Cancellation for Fraud
We reserve the right to cancel and fully refund any order that our fraud review process identifies as likely unauthorized, inconsistent, or potentially fraudulent. We will notify the customer by email if an order is canceled under this policy. Repeat flagged behavior may result in the relevant shipping address being blocked from future orders.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any saved payment methods, passwords, or account credentials associated with your checkout session. If you believe your payment information has been compromised, contact your card issuer immediately and notify us at info@yourhairandwig.com.
Chargeback Policy & Billing Dispute Resolution
A chargeback occurs when a cardholder disputes a charge with their bank or card issuer, causing the transaction to be reversed. We take billing disputes seriously and are committed to resolving them fairly and promptly. Before initiating a chargeback, we strongly encourage you to contact us directly — most billing concerns can be resolved faster through direct communication than through a bank dispute process, which typically takes 60–120 days.
To dispute a charge directly with us, contact our team by:
- Email: info@yourhairandwig.com
- Phone: +1 561-810-0428 (Mon–Sat, 9 AM–6 PM EST)
- Live Chat: Available via the chat widget on yourhairandwig.com during business hours
When a chargeback is filed with your bank, we are required to respond with documentation evidencing the transaction. We maintain detailed transaction records including IP address logs, order confirmation data, delivery tracking, and communications records. We will submit this evidence to defend legitimate charges.
Regarding Fraudulent Chargebacks
Filing a chargeback on a legitimate transaction — for example, claiming an order was not received when our records show confirmed delivery, or claiming an item was not as described without contacting us — constitutes chargeback fraud. This is a violation of card network rules and, in many US states and Canadian provinces, may constitute criminal fraud. We reserve the right to pursue recovery of fraudulent chargebacks through all available legal and collection channels, and to permanently block the associated email address, phone number, and shipping address from future orders.
Your Rights Under the FCBA (US Customers)
Under the Fair Credit Billing Act (15 U.S.C. § 1666), you have the right to dispute a billing error on a credit card statement within 60 days of the statement date on which the error first appeared. Billing errors include unauthorized charges, charges for goods not delivered, and charges for an incorrect amount. You must notify your card issuer in writing. The card issuer must acknowledge your dispute within 30 days and resolve it within two billing cycles (not more than 90 days). You are not required to pay the disputed amount while the dispute is under investigation. These rights apply specifically to credit card purchases and are governed by Regulation Z.
US Payment Regulations & Your Rights
Federal law provides meaningful protections for US customers making payments online. The following laws govern your payment rights when purchasing from yourhairandwig.com.
Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA) — 15 U.S.C. §§ 1666–1666j
Applies to credit card purchases. Gives you the right to dispute billing errors, unauthorized charges, and charges for goods not delivered as described within 60 days of the billing statement date. Your liability for unauthorized credit card use is capped at $50 (most issuers waive this entirely under their zero-liability policies). You may withhold payment on the disputed amount while the investigation is underway.
Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA) / Regulation E — 15 U.S.C. § 1693
Applies to debit card and ACH-based transactions. Protects consumers against unauthorized electronic fund transfers. Your liability for unauthorized debit card transactions is limited to $50 if you report within 2 business days ($500 if reported within 60 days). You have the right to receive written notice of electronic payment terms before completing a transaction. We provide clear disclosure of all charges at checkout consistent with Regulation E requirements.
Truth in Lending Act (TILA) / Regulation Z — 15 U.S.C. § 1601
Requires clear disclosure of credit terms when credit is extended in connection with a consumer purchase. Where Shop Pay's installment option (powered by Affirm) is selected, the applicable APR, payment schedule, total finance charge, and all loan terms are disclosed in full before you accept the installment plan. You are never required to use credit — pay-in-full options are always available. TILA disclosures for installment payments are provided by Affirm directly in accordance with Regulation Z.
FTC Act, Section 5 — 15 U.S.C. § 45 (Unfair & Deceptive Practices)
Prohibits unfair or deceptive acts or practices in commerce. We do not use misleading pricing tactics, add hidden charges, misrepresent products, or make false statements about the nature of a charge. Our pricing, tax disclosures, and refund terms are stated plainly and honestly. We will not represent a charge as something other than what it is. If you believe we have engaged in a deceptive billing practice, you may also file a complaint with the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
Canadian Payment Regulations & Consumer Rights
Canadian customers making purchases from yourhairandwig.com are protected by federal and provincial laws governing consumer transactions, electronic payments, and the handling of personal financial information.
PIPEDA — Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (S.C. 2000, c. 5)
PIPEDA governs how private-sector organizations collect, use, and disclose personal information in the course of commercial activities. Payment information you provide at checkout (including your name, billing address, and card details) is collected solely for the purpose of processing your transaction. We do not sell, rent, or share your payment data with third parties except as required to process your payment (e.g., through Shopify's payment infrastructure). You have the right to request access to your personal information by contacting us at info@yourhairandwig.com.
Payment Card Networks Act (PCNA) & Code of Conduct — S.C. 2010, c. 12, s. 1834
Canada's Code of Conduct for the Credit and Debit Card Industry in Canada, administered by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC), establishes standards for how payment card networks and merchants operate. We do not impose surcharges on credit card payments, do not require minimum purchase amounts for card acceptance, and do not establish policies that favor one card network over another to the detriment of cardholders. You have the right to choose your payment method freely among the options we offer.
Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) — Consumer Protections
The FCAC supervises federally regulated financial entities and monitors compliance with consumer protection measures. As a merchant, we are obligated to ensure that the charges applied to Canadian customers' cards are accurate, clearly disclosed, and consistent with the amounts agreed to at checkout. Canadian consumers who believe a billing error has occurred may also contact the FCAC at canada.ca/fcac.
Provincial Consumer Protection Acts
In addition to federal protections, provincial consumer protection legislation — including Ontario's Consumer Protection Act (S.O. 2002, c. 30), British Columbia's Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act (SBC 2004, c. 2), Quebec's Act Respecting Consumer Protection (CQLR c P-40.1), and Alberta's Consumer Protection Act (RSA 2000, c C-26.3) — provide additional rights regarding online transactions, contract cancellation, and billing accuracy. We do not charge for goods or services you have not agreed to purchase. Where provincial law provides a cancellation right for distance contracts, we honor that right in full.
Refund & Payment Reversal Processing
Refunds are processed back to the original payment method used at the time of purchase. We do not issue refunds to a different card, account, or payment method than the one originally charged. Refund eligibility is governed by our Refund Policy, which we encourage you to review before purchasing.
How Refunds Are Processed
Once a refund is approved by our team, we initiate the reversal through Shopify's payment system immediately. The speed at which the refunded amount appears in your account depends on your payment method and your bank's processing times — it is not controlled by us.
Refunds are issued in USD, the currency in which the original charge was made. If you are a Canadian customer, your bank will convert the USD refund to CAD at the exchange rate in effect at the time of the refund settlement, which may differ from the rate in effect at the time of the original purchase.
Partial Refunds
If you return only part of a multi-item order, we will issue a refund for the returned items only. The refund amount will reflect the price paid for those specific items plus any associated tax, minus any applicable restocking or return fees as stated in our Refund Policy. Shipping charges are refunded only where we were responsible for a shipping error or if the item arrived damaged.
Refund Timelines by Payment Method
| Payment Method | Estimated Refund Timeline |
|---|---|
| Visa / Mastercard / Amex / Discover | 3–10 business days after refund initiation |
| JCB / Diners Club / Elo / UnionPay | 5–15 business days (varies by issuing bank) |
| PayPal | 3–5 business days to PayPal balance; 5–10 days to linked bank |
| Apple Pay / Google Pay | 3–10 business days to the underlying card on file |
| Shop Pay | 3–10 business days to original payment method |
| Amazon Pay | 3–5 business days to Amazon Pay account |
| USDC | 1–3 business days to original wallet address |
| Shop Pay Installments | Managed by Affirm per their installment refund terms |
Timelines are estimates. Your bank or payment provider controls actual processing speeds. If your refund has not appeared within the stated window, please contact your bank before contacting us, as the funds may be pending on their end.
