Review Authenticity: Our Core Commitment

Every review visible on yourhairandwig.com must meet strict authenticity standards. The following principles govern how we treat every piece of customer feedback, without exception.

Verified Purchasers Only

We only publish reviews submitted by customers who have completed a confirmed purchase of the specific product being reviewed on yourhairandwig.com. Reviews are tied to verified order records. We do not allow reviews from individuals who have not purchased the product directly from our store.

Absolutely No Fabricated Reviews

We do not create, commission, post, or permit any review that was not written by a real customer based on a genuine product experience. No Suppression of Negative Feedback

Unaltered Review Content

No Rating Manipulation

We do not manipulate the overall star rating of any product by inserting internal ratings, excluding legitimate low ratings from the average, or using any other technique that causes the displayed average rating to differ from what verified customers actually submitted. The aggregate rating for any product reflects the true mathematical average of all published reviews for that item.

Transparent Review Dates

Every published review displays the date it was submitted. We do not backdate reviews, shuffle publication order to make older reviews appear more recent, or otherwise mislead shoppers about when a customer experience occurred. Review dates reflect the actual date of submission and are presented exactly as recorded.

Your Hair And Wig collects customer reviews through the following methods. In every case, we are transparent about how we ask for feedback, and we never create conditions that would pressure a customer into leaving a positive review or discourage them from sharing an honest negative experience.

    After a confirmed delivery, we may send a follow-up email inviting the purchasing customer to share their experience. This email is sent only to customers who have consented to receive commercial messages, in full compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act (15 U.S.C. § 7701) for US customers and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) for Canadian customers. The email links directly to the product review form and does not pre-suggest a positive rating or include any language that would discourage honest feedback.

  • On-Site Product Review Form

    Each product page on yourhairandwig.com includes a review submission form accessible to verified purchasers. Customers can submit a star rating from one to five, a written description of their experience, and optionally attach photos of the product as received. There is no minimum rating requirement to submit, and no review is screened for rating score before being accepted into the moderation queue.

  • Organic Social Media Testimonials

    From time to time, verified customers voluntarily share their experience with Your Hair And Wig products on our Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok channels. We may request permission to feature these testimonials on our website. Any such testimonial is shared only with explicit written permission from the original poster, and only after we have confirmed the individual is a genuine customer. We do not pay for or incentivize social media testimonials without clear disclosure.

Review Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to submit a review on yourhairandwig.com, the following conditions must be met:

The FTC’s revised Endorsement Guides (16 C.F.R. Part 255, effective August 2023) and the FTC’s final Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials (effective August 2024) impose strict requirements on how businesses handle reviews that involve any material connection between the reviewer and the company. The following section details exactly how we comply.

No Payment for Positive Reviews

We do not offer, pay, or provide any form of monetary compensation — including cash payments, gift cards, store credit, refunds, or commissions — to any customer, influencer, or third party in exchange for publishing a positive review on our website. Paying for positive reviews is a deceptive practice prohibited by the FTC Rule on Consumer Reviews (16 C.F.R. Part 465) and constitutes a misleading representation under the Canadian Competition Act (Section 74.011).

We do not engage review brokering services, review exchange networks, or any platform that connects brands with reviewers for compensation without full transparent disclosure.

Influencer & Gifted Product Disclosures

When we provide a product to a social media creator, influencer, brand ambassador, or blogger at no cost or at a discounted rate in exchange for a review, endorsement, or any form of public mention, that material connection must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously in every piece of content where that review or endorsement appears.

Required disclosure language includes, but is not limited to: “#ad,” “#gifted,” “#sponsored,” or “I received this product from Your Hair And Wig for free in exchange for my honest review.” Vague tags such as “#collab” or “#partner” without clearer context do not satisfy FTC disclosure requirements and are not permitted.

Employee & Insider Reviews

Employees, contractors, owners, or any person with a financial or personal relationship with Your Hair And Wig are strictly prohibited from submitting reviews for any product sold on our website, regardless of whether they genuinely purchased the product. If an employee or affiliate wishes to provide feedback on a product, that feedback is directed to our internal product quality review process — not to the public-facing review system.

Any employee or affiliated-party review discovered on our platform — whether submitted intentionally or inadvertently — is removed immediately upon identification, and the account responsible for the submission is flagged for review.

Review Solicitation Standards

FTC Rule on Consumer Reviews — August 2024

The FTC’s final rule on consumer reviews and testimonials, effective August 2024, explicitly prohibits: (1) creating, buying, or disseminating fake consumer reviews; (2) buying positive reviews; (3) suppressing negative reviews; (4) using insider reviews without clear disclosure; (5) review hijacking to misappropriate reviews from one product to another; and (6) creating websites that falsely claim to offer independent reviews. Moderation Timeline: All reviews submitted to yourhairandwig.com enter a moderation queue. Standard reviews from verified purchasers are published within 1–3 business days of submission. Reviews that require additional verification may take up to 5 business days to process. Customers are notified by email if their review is not published, with a specific explanation of the reason and their options for resubmission or appeal.

Star Ratings & Aggregate Scores

How Star Ratings Are Calculated & Displayed

The star rating displayed on each product page on yourhairandwig.com is a straightforward mathematical average of all published reviews for that specific product. We do not apply weighting, filters, or exclusion logic that would cause the displayed rating to differ from a true average of verified customer ratings.

Specifically, we do not exclude one-star or two-star ratings from the aggregate calculation. We do not apply a recency weighting system that diminishes the influence of older negative reviews more aggressively than older positive ones. We do not inflate the displayed average by carrying forward ratings from a previous or related product version unless those ratings were genuinely submitted for the current version being sold.

Product star ratings are displayed prominently on the product page in a format that allows shoppers to see both the aggregate score and the distribution of individual ratings across all five star levels, visible to every website visitor before making a purchase.

Review Hijacking — Strictly Prohibited

Under the FTC’s 2024 Consumer Reviews Rule, it is unlawful to use reviews written for one product and apply them to a different product to artificially improve the second product’s rating. We do not repurpose, transfer, or reassign reviews from any previous, discontinued, or related product to a new or current listing. All reviews displayed are specific to the exact product variant being sold.

What Each Star Rating Means

  • 5 Stars — Excellent: The customer is highly satisfied and would recommend the product to others
  • 4 Stars — Good: The customer is satisfied overall, with minor reservations or areas for improvement
  • 3 Stars — Average: Mixed experience; the product met some but not all of the customer’s expectations
  • 2 Stars — Poor: The customer had a largely negative experience and would not recommend the product
  • 1 Star — Very Poor: The customer is highly dissatisfied. These reviews are published in full and included in all rating calculations

Minimum Review Threshold

A product must have at least one published verified review before an aggregate star rating is displayed on its product page. Products with no reviews display no star rating — we do not display a placeholder or default rating for products that have not yet been reviewed.

When a customer leaves a one-star or two-star review, our team reviews the associated order, identifies the nature of the issue, and posts a public response within 3–5 business days. We Do Not Bribe Reviewers to Change Ratings

We never offer any customer a refund, discount, replacement, or other benefit in exchange for modifying, updating, or removing a negative review. If a customer contacts us after leaving a negative review and we resolve their issue, they may voluntarily choose to update their review — but that choice is entirely theirs and is never a condition of receiving our assistance. Conditioning a remedy on a review change is a deceptive practice under FTC rules.

Because we sell to customers in both the United States and Canada, our review and testimonial practices must satisfy the regulatory requirements of both countries.

United States
  • FTC Endorsement Guides (16 C.F.R. Part 255): Requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of any material connection between a reviewer and our business, including free products, payment, employment, or family relationships. We enforce this across our website and all social channels.
  • FTC Rule on Consumer Reviews (16 C.F.R. Part 465, effective August 2024): Prohibits creating fake reviews, buying reviews, insider reviews without disclosure, suppression of negative reviews, review hijacking, and websites falsely claiming to be independent review platforms. We comply with every provision.
  • FTC Act § 5 (15 U.S.C. § 45): All claims made in reviews displayed on our website — and in our presentation of review data such as aggregate star ratings — must not be deceptive or misleading to a reasonable consumer.
  • CAN-SPAM Act (15 U.S.C. § 7701): All review solicitation emails sent to US customers comply with CAN-SPAM requirements, including accurate sender information, a clear subject line, physical mailing address disclosure, and an easy one-click unsubscribe mechanism.
  • COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act): We do not knowingly collect reviews or personal information from individuals under 13 years of age. Review submission forms on our website require users to confirm they are 13 or older prior to submission.

  • Competition Act — Section 74.011: The display of aggregate star ratings, average scores, or promotional claims based on review data must be accurate and not misleading. We ensure that all displayed review metrics reflect real, unmanipulated data.
  • Competition Act — Section 74.01 (Deceptive Marketing): Publishing fabricated reviews, posting insider reviews without disclosure, or otherwise creating a false impression of the popularity or quality of a product through manipulated review data constitutes a deceptive marketing practice under Canadian law.
  • Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL, S.C. 2010, c. 23): Review request emails sent to Canadian customers are sent only with express or implied consent. Every such email includes a clearly visible unsubscribe mechanism, a valid return email address, and our business mailing address. We honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days.
  • PIPEDA (S.C. 2000, c. 5): Personal information collected through review submissions from Canadian customers is handled in accordance with PIPEDA’s 10 fair information principles. Canadian customers may request access to or deletion of their personal review data at any time.
  • Provincial Consumer Protection Acts: Several Canadian provinces — including Quebec (Act Respecting Consumer Protection), Ontario (Consumer Protection Act, 2002), and British Columbia (Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act) — have additional provisions prohibiting misleading representations. How We Enforce Review Integrity

Our review integrity standards are enforced through the following concrete measures applied on a continuous basis at Your Hair And Wig:

  • Purchase Verification Before Publishing
