Warranty Policy
Warranty Policy
A clear, transparent explanation of what is — and is not — covered when you purchase wigs, hair tools, and hair care products from us. Grounded in US federal warranty law and Canadian consumer protection standards.
What This Policy Covers
At Your Hair And Wig, we want every customer to know exactly what protection comes with their purchase before they buy. This Warranty Policy explains the manufacturer warranties that apply to our hair tools and electronic appliances, the standards we hold our cosmetic and hair care products to, and the statutory consumer rights that exist under United States and Canadian law regardless of what any individual product label says.
We ship exclusively to addresses in the United States and Canada. This policy applies to every item listed on yourhairandwig.com, including wigs and lace front units, hair growth oils and serums, shampoos and conditioners, styling tools, hair dryers, straighteners, trimmers, brushes, and hair accessories.
This Warranty Policy works alongside — and does not replace — our separate Return & Refund Policy. The Refund Policy governs returns based on change of mind, sizing, or general dissatisfaction within our 30-day return window. This Warranty Policy governs defects in materials, workmanship, and manufacturing that appear during normal use.
Governing Laws & Regulations
This policy is informed by, and kept current with, the following primary authorities:
- Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. §§ 2301–2312)
- FTC Rules on Disclosure of Written Warranty Terms (16 C.F.R. Part 701)
- FTC Guides for the Advertising of Warranties and Guarantees (16 C.F.R. Part 239)
- FTC Act § 5 — Unfair or Deceptive Acts or Practices (15 U.S.C. § 45)
- Provincial Sale of Goods Acts & Consumer Protection Acts (Canada)
- Competition Act (Canada) — Misleading Warranty Representations (R.S.C., 1985, c. C-34)
How Warranty Coverage Applies to Our Catalog
Our catalog spans several distinct product types, and warranty coverage works differently for each. Here is exactly what protection applies to the category of item you purchased.
Hair Dryers, Straighteners, Trimmers & Hot Tools
Electronic and electrical hair tools — including hair dryers, hot air styling brushes, flat irons, curling irons, and trimmers — are covered by a limited manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for the period stated on the individual product page, typically 90 days from the date of delivery unless a longer period is shown. This covers manufacturing defects only, not damage from misuse, drops, liquid exposure, or normal wear of heating elements over time.
Wigs, Lace Fronts & Hair Extensions
Wigs and hair units are warranted against manufacturing defects only — meaning lace that detaches at the seam during normal first use, wefts that separate from the cap, or a unit that does not match the construction described on the listing (e.g., density, lace size, or cap construction). This warranty does not cover normal shedding, tangling from improper care, color fading from heat or sun exposure, or damage from styling products not designed for the hair type. It does not cover units that have been cut, colored, or altered by the customer.
Shampoos, Conditioners, Oils & Serums
Cosmetic hair care products are not covered by a traditional warranty in the way physical tools are, since they are single-use consumable goods. Instead, we guarantee that every formulation matches its label description and is free from manufacturing contamination at the time of shipment. If a bottle arrives leaking, sealed incorrectly, or visibly contaminated, this is treated as a defective-item claim under Section 4 of this policy, not a standard return.
Hair Accessories & Styling Tools (Non-Electric)
Non-electric accessories — hair clips, claw clips, satin bonnets, cosmetic bags, and similar items — are covered against manufacturing defects for 30 days from delivery. This includes broken clasps on arrival, defective stitching, or hardware that fails under normal first use. It does not cover wear and tear from regular use over time.
Manufacturer-Backed Brand Warranties
Certain branded products in our catalog (for example, named third-party brands of hair tools or treatments) carry their own manufacturer warranty that is separate from, and in addition to, the coverage described here. Where this applies, the manufacturer's warranty terms, length, and registration process will be noted on the product listing or included with the item. We will assist customers in initiating a manufacturer warranty claim even where the underlying repair or replacement decision rests with that manufacturer.
Sale, Clearance & Final-Sale Items
Items marked as sale, clearance, or final sale on the product page remain covered by this Warranty Policy for genuine manufacturing defects. A discounted price does not remove statutory or manufacturer warranty protection. It does, however, remain excluded from our standard change-of-mind return process, consistent with our Return & Refund Policy.
Warranty Coverage Periods at a Glance
The table below summarizes the standard warranty period for each product category. Individual product pages may state a longer period; where a product page and this table differ, the period stated on the specific product page controls.
| Product Category | Standard Warranty Period | What's Covered | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hair Dryers & Hot Air Styling Brushes | 90 days from delivery | Motor, heating element & wiring defects | Covered |
| Flat Irons & Curling Irons | 90 days from delivery | Heating plate & internal component defects | Covered |
| Hair & Beard Trimmers | 90 days from delivery | Motor & blade mechanism defects | Covered |
| Hair Brushes (Non-Electric) | 30 days from delivery | Bristle attachment & handle defects | Covered |
| Wigs, Lace Fronts & Extensions | 14 days from delivery | Lace, weft & cap construction defects only | Limited Coverage |
| Hair Accessories & Cosmetic Bags | 30 days from delivery | Hardware, clasp & stitching defects | Covered |
| Shampoos, Conditioners, Oils & Serums | Not applicable (consumable) | Shipment contamination or leakage only | Limited Coverage |
| Cosmetic Damage From Shipping | 48 hours from delivery to report | All product categories — must be reported promptly | Covered |
| Normal Wear, Misuse & Customer Alteration | Not applicable | Excluded from all warranty coverage | Not Covered |
Statutory Rights Remain Unaffected: Nothing in the table above limits the implied warranties and statutory consumer protections described in Sections 5 and 6 of this policy. These periods describe our standard manufacturer-style warranty coverage; your separate legal rights under US and Canadian consumer protection law continue to apply on top of these periods, not instead of them.
What This Warranty Does Not Cover
In the interest of full transparency, we want every customer to understand the limits of warranty coverage before they buy. The following situations are not covered under this Warranty Policy:
- Damage caused by misuse, accidental drops, water or liquid exposure (for electric tools), or use of voltage incompatible with the device
- Normal wear and tear, including heating-element degradation, blade dulling, or bristle softening over time
- Wigs or hair units that have been cut, colored, permed, chemically treated, or otherwise altered by the customer after delivery
- Use of a product for a purpose other than its intended use, or repair attempted by anyone other than an authorized service provider
- Cosmetic changes that occur from normal product use, such as color fading from sun exposure or scent change in oils over time
- Claims submitted after the applicable warranty period shown in Section 3, or without proof of purchase from yourhairandwig.com
No Third-Party Tie-In Requirements
Consistent with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act's anti-tying provisions, we do not require customers to use any specific third-party accessory, charger, or service provider to keep their warranty valid, except where a free replacement part is provided directly by us or the manufacturer. Independent repair or use of compatible third-party accessories does not void this warranty on its own.
"As Is" Listings
If any product is ever listed as sold "as is" on our site, this disclosure will appear clearly on the product page itself before checkout. Even where a product is marked "as is" for purposes of our optional warranty coverage, statutory implied warranties under US and Canadian law described in Sections 5 and 6 below may still apply and cannot be waived by this notice alone.
If Your Item Arrives Damaged or Defective
Damage that occurs in transit is handled differently from a manufacturing defect that develops over time. Here is how each is processed.
Shipping Damage
If your order arrives visibly damaged due to mishandling in transit, contact us at info@yourhairandwig.com within 48 hours of delivery with your order number, a description of the damage, and clear photos of both the item and the original packaging. We will issue a free replacement or full refund once the claim is verified — there is no cost to you for shipping damage.
Manufacturing Defects
If an item functions abnormally, fails, or shows a construction flaw within its applicable warranty period stated in Section 3 — but the issue is not from shipping damage — submit a warranty claim using the form in Section 7. We may request additional photos or a short video showing the issue before approving a repair, replacement, or refund.
Wrong Item Received
If you received a different product, color, or size than what you ordered, this is treated as a fulfillment error and is fully covered at no cost to you. Report it within 48 hours of delivery using the same contact method, and we will arrange the correct item to be sent along with a prepaid return label for the incorrect one.
Resolution Timeline
We aim to respond to all warranty inquiries within 1–2 business days and to reach a resolution — repair, replacement, or refund — within 5–7 business days of receiving all requested documentation. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval, consistent with our Return & Refund Policy.
US & Canadian Warranty Rights
Because we ship to both the United States and Canada, customers in each country are entitled to specific statutory protections that exist independently of anything written in this policy.
- Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act: For products over $15, we disclose warranty terms fully and conspicuously in plain language, designate coverage as "limited," and never disclaim the implied warranty of merchantability that accompanies any written warranty we offer.
- Implied Warranty of Merchantability: Under the Uniform Commercial Code as adopted in US states, every product we sell carries an implied promise that it is fit for its ordinary purpose, regardless of whether we offer a separate written warranty.
- No Tie-In Sales: We never condition warranty validity on the use of a specific branded accessory, part, or repair service, in compliance with the Magnuson-Moss anti-tying rule.
- State Law Protections: Many states provide additional consumer warranty rights beyond federal law, including state "lemon laws" for certain product categories and state unfair trade practices statutes. Nothing in this policy limits those rights.
- FTC Act § 5: All of our warranty claims and advertised guarantees are truthful, substantiated, and non-deceptive at the time they are published.
- Implied Warranty of Merchantable Quality: Under provincial Sale of Goods Acts and Consumer Protection Acts, goods sold to Canadian consumers must be of merchantable (or "acceptable") quality and fit for their intended purpose — and this right exists regardless of what any seller states, including any "as is" language.
- Cannot Be Waived: Provincial consumer protection statutes generally provide that these implied warranties cannot be excluded or varied by any contract term, including anything stated on our website.
- Quebec Legal Warranty: For customers in Quebec, the Civil Code of Québec and the Consumer Protection Act provide an additional "legal warranty" (garantie légale) requiring goods to remain durable for a reasonable time given their price and normal conditions of use.
- Competition Act: We do not make warranty or guarantee claims that are false or misleading in a material respect, consistent with federal Canadian competition law.
- Provincial Recourse: Canadian customers who believe their statutory warranty rights have not been honored may contact their provincial consumer protection office (for example, Consumer Protection Ontario, Consumer Protection BC, or Quebec's Office de la protection du consommateur).
Plain-Language Summary: No matter what is written on a product page, box, or in this policy, you keep your basic legal right to a product that works as described and is fit for its ordinary purpose. This policy describes the extra, voluntary coverage we provide on top of those baseline rights — it never reduces them.
Limited Warranty: What This Means for You
Federal law requires every written warranty to be clearly labeled as either "full" or "limited." Here is what that distinction means at Your Hair And Wig.
This Is a Limited Warranty
Every warranty described in this policy is a limited warranty, not a full warranty under federal law. This means coverage is restricted to the specific defects and time periods stated in Section 3, and certain costs — such as return shipping for non-defect-related returns — may be the customer's responsibility, consistent with our Return & Refund Policy.
What "Limited" Does Not Mean
A limited warranty is not a way to avoid our obligations. It simply means the warranty has defined boundaries that are disclosed to you, in plain language, before you buy. We do not use the word "limited" to disguise a warranty that provides no real protection — every limitation described in this policy is genuine and consistently enforced.
Remedy Selection
Where a manufacturing defect is confirmed within the applicable warranty period, we will offer, at our discretion and after considering the customer's preference, one of the following remedies: a free replacement of the same item, a repair where reasonably possible, or a refund to the original payment method.
Proof of Purchase Required
Every warranty claim requires proof of purchase from yourhairandwig.com — an order confirmation email, order number, or receipt is sufficient. We do not require original packaging to be retained as a condition of a valid warranty claim, though photos of the defect are required.
How to File a Warranty Claim
If you believe your product has a manufacturing defect covered under this policy, follow these steps. We review every claim carefully and aim to make the process as straightforward as possible.
Gather Your Information
Locate your order number, the date of delivery, and take clear photos or a short video of the defect. Note exactly what the product is doing wrong.
Submit Your Claim
Complete the form below or email us directly at info@yourhairandwig.com with your order number, photos, and a description of the defect.
We Review & Resolve
Our team reviews every claim within 1–2 business days. Once approved, we arrange a repair, replacement, or refund within 5–7 business days.
How We Stand Behind This Policy
This policy is actively enforced through the following measures applied on an ongoing basis at Your Hair And Wig:
-
Good-Faith Claim Review
Every warranty claim is reviewed individually and in good faith. We do not deny valid claims on technicalities, and any denial is explained to the customer in writing with the specific reason cited.
-
Informal Resolution First
If you disagree with a warranty decision, contact us at info@yourhairandwig.com to request a second review before pursuing any other remedy. Most disputes are resolved at this stage within a few business days.
-
External Recourse
If a dispute remains unresolved, US customers may contact the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov, and Canadian customers may contact their provincial consumer protection office. Nothing in this policy requires mandatory arbitration as a precondition to these rights.
-
Annual Policy Review
This policy is reviewed at minimum once per year and updated whenever US federal or Canadian regulations change in a way that affects our warranty practices. The effective date shown at the bottom of this page reflects the most recent update.
Where to Report Concerns to Authorities
If you believe a warranty matter requires regulatory attention beyond what we can address directly, you may also contact:

Policy Changes
This policy may be updated as regulations evolve or our product catalog changes. Changes take effect on the date shown in the "Last Updated" notice at the bottom of this page.
