How to Use This Page
At Your Hair And Wig, we carry over 269 products — from lace front wigs and full weave bundles to hair care treatments, styling tools, and accessories. Sizing and fit vary significantly by product type, and purchasing the wrong size can affect both your experience and your ability to return an item.
This guide covers measurement instructions and size charts for every major product category sold on yourhairandwig.com. Whether you are shopping for a ready-to-wear synthetic wig, a custom-fit lace front, a set of clip-in extensions, or a bottle of conditioning treatment, the information on this page will help you confirm the right selection before you order.
We ship to the United States and Canada only. All sizing guidance on this page reflects standards applicable in both jurisdictions. Where US and Canadian measurement conventions differ, both are clearly noted. If you have a question about a specific product that is not answered here, contact us directly at info@yourhairandwig.com or call +1 (561) 810-0428.

Before You Order
All measurements on this page are provided in both inches (in) and centimeters (cm). If a product listing shows only one unit, this guide provides the conversion. Measure yourself using a soft fabric measuring tape for the most accurate result. Do not use a rigid metal measuring tape.
How to Measure Your Head
Accurate head measurements are the single most important step in choosing the correct wig cap size. Follow the steps below using a soft fabric measuring tape. Have someone assist you for the most precise result.
Circumference
Place the tape measure at your natural hairline at the center of your forehead. Run it around the perimeter of your head — above your ears, around the back of your head at the nape — and back to the starting point. This measurement, typically between 21–23 inches (53–58 cm), is your head circumference and the primary factor in cap size selection.
Front to Nape
Starting at the center of your natural hairline at the forehead, run the tape measure over the top of your head (along the center parting line) down to the nape of your neck — the point where your hairline ends at the back. This measurement determines wig length along the crown and helps when choosing longer styles that must fall naturally to your back.
Ear to Ear Across the Forehead
Place the tape measure at the top of one ear, run it across your forehead following your natural hairline, and stop at the top of the opposite ear. This measurement helps determine how far across the front the lace section of a lace front wig must span, ensuring the hairline looks natural from temple to temple.
Ear to Ear Over the Top
Run the tape measure from the top of one ear, over the very top of your head (not the crown, but directly overhead), to the top of the other ear. This measurement helps assess the cap width at the crown area and is especially relevant for full lace wigs, where proper coverage from side to side ensures no gaps or lifting at the temples.
Temple to Temple Across the Back
Place the tape at one temple (the flat area on the side of your head, just beside the eye), run it around the back of your head, and bring it to the opposite temple. This measurement, combined with circumference, confirms the wig will wrap correctly at the back and not feel tight across the occipital bone — the rounded area at the rear of the skull.
Nape of Neck Width
Measure horizontally across the back of your neck at the hairline — from the outer edge of your left sideburn area to the outer edge of your right sideburn area at the nape. This is important for wigs with a defined back neckline and for clip-in or tape-in extensions that attach near the nape, ensuring the weft width is appropriate for your natural hair coverage in that area.
Tools Needed: A soft fabric measuring tape (the type used in sewing or dressmaking), a mirror, and optionally a second person to assist with back-of-head measurements. Do not estimate — even 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) off can result in a cap that is too tight or too loose, affecting both comfort and the natural appearance of the hairline.
Wig Cap Size Chart
Use your head circumference measurement to identify your cap size. All wigs, lace fronts, and full lace units sold at Your Hair And Wig use the standard industry cap sizing below. Sizes are consistent across synthetic and human hair products.
| Cap Size | Head Circumference (inches) | Head Circumference (cm) | Front to Nape (inches) | Front to Nape (cm) | Fits Most |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Petite / XS | 20.5 – 21.5 in | 52 – 54.5 cm | 12.5 – 13.5 in | 31.8 – 34.3 cm | Smaller head shape; narrow temple-to-temple width |
| Small | 21.5 – 22.0 in | 54.5 – 55.9 cm | 13.0 – 13.5 in | 33.0 – 34.3 cm | Compact head shape; fits snugly without adjustment |
| Average / Medium | 22.0 – 22.5 in | 55.9 – 57.2 cm | 13.5 – 14.5 in | 34.3 – 36.8 cm | Most customers; the default cap size unless otherwise stated in the product listing |
| Large | 22.5 – 23.0 in | 57.2 – 58.4 cm | 14.0 – 15.0 in | 35.6 – 38.1 cm | Wider head shapes; more comfortable for those who find average caps tight |
| XL / Oversized | 23.0 – 24.0 in | 58.4 – 61.0 cm | 14.5 – 15.5 in | 36.8 – 39.4 cm | Larger head circumference; ensures no constriction at the hairline or nape |
Adjustable Straps & Elastic Bands
Most wig caps sold on our site include adjustable straps at the nape (typically offering ±0.5 inch / 1.3 cm of adjustment) and an internal elastic band that provides additional give. If your measurement falls between two sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size when the cap includes these adjustment features, or the larger size for products listed as "no adjustment / fixed cap." The product description for each wig confirms whether adjustable straps are included.
Understanding Cap Construction
Every wig sold on our site falls into one of the following cap construction categories. Understanding these helps you choose a product that fits not just in circumference, but in the way the hair sits, parts, and moves.
- 13x4 Lace Front The lace panel spans 13 inches ear-to-ear and extends 4 inches back from the hairline. Creates a natural-looking hairline across the full front. Most lace front wigs on our site use this construction.
- 13x6 Lace Front The lace extends 6 inches back from the hairline, providing a deeper parting area than a 13x4. Recommended for customers who prefer a center part or wider styling versatility toward the crown.
- Full Lace Wig The entire cap is made of lace, allowing the hair to be parted anywhere on the head. These wigs require the most precise head measurement because there are no stretch panels to compensate for size differences.
- HD Lace High-definition lace is thinner and more transparent than standard lace, blending with most skin tones without tinting. HD lace wigs follow the same cap size chart; the "HD" designation refers to lace quality, not a different size standard.
- Synthetic Cap (Non-Lace) Wigs with a machine-sewn cap rather than lace. These are typically more affordable and come with fixed parting positions. Cap sizing follows the same chart; always check the product listing to confirm whether adjustable straps are included.
Hair Length Chart: Wigs & Extensions
Hair length on wigs and extensions is measured from the root at the cap or weft to the tip of the longest strand when the hair is pulled straight. Curly, wavy, and coily textures will appear shorter than the stated length when worn naturally — this is expected and not a product defect.
| Length (inches) | Length (cm) | Where It Falls on the Body | Typical Style Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 – 10 in | 20 – 25 cm | Chin to jaw on most wearers | Short Bob / Pixie |
| 12 – 14 in | 30 – 36 cm | Collarbone to upper chest | Short to Medium |
| 16 – 18 in | 41 – 46 cm | Mid-chest to just above the bust | Medium Length |
| 20 – 22 in | 51 – 56 cm | Full bust to mid-torso | Long |
| 24 – 26 in | 61 – 66 cm | Waist area | Extra Long |
| 28 – 30 in | 71 – 76 cm | Below waist / hip area | Ultra Long |
| 32 in + | 81 cm + | Hip to thigh | Maxi / Fashion Length |
Body length measurements above are based on a wearer of approximately 5'4" – 5'6" (163 – 168 cm). If you are taller or shorter, the same wig length will fall at a different point on your body. Use the centimeter measurement of the hair itself — not the body reference — as the definitive guide when shopping.
| Length (inches) | Length (cm) | Typical Placement | Recommended Bundles / Packs |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 – 10 in | 20 – 25 cm | Nape and perimeter layers | 1–2 bundles for short additions |
| 12 – 14 in | 30 – 36 cm | Mid-length additions, collarbone | 2 bundles for a full sew-in |
| 16 – 18 in | 41 – 46 cm | Mid-back; standard full look | 2–3 bundles depending on density |
| 20 – 22 in | 51 – 56 cm | Lower back; full and voluminous | 3 bundles standard; 3 + closure |
| 24 – 26 in | 61 – 66 cm | Waist-length extensions | 3–4 bundles for complete coverage |
| 28 – 30 in | 71 – 76 cm | Below-waist dramatic length | 4 bundles recommended |
Bundle Weight & Density
Each bundle sold on our site typically weighs 95–105 grams (3.4–3.7 oz). Heavier bundles (described as "double drawn" or "thick ends") are closer to 120–130 grams and provide a fuller look at the tips. If you are building a full sew-in or install with a closure or frontal, you will generally need one fewer bundle than if installing without. The product listing for each bundle states the weight and whether it is single drawn or double drawn.
| Hair Texture | Stated Length (example) | Approximate Worn Length | Visual Appearance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Straight | 20 in / 51 cm | Approx. 20 in / 51 cm | Full stated length visible when worn |
| Body Wave | 20 in / 51 cm | Approx. 18–19 in / 46–48 cm | Slight reduction due to wave pattern |
| Deep Wave / Loose Curly | 20 in / 51 cm | Approx. 15–17 in / 38–43 cm | Noticeably shorter appearance when not stretched |
| Kinky Curly / Tight Coil | 20 in / 51 cm | Approx. 12–14 in / 30–36 cm | Significant shrinkage; buy 4–6 inches longer than target worn length |
| Water Wave | 20 in / 51 cm | Approx. 16–18 in / 41–46 cm | Medium shrinkage; similar to deep wave |
Important: Stated hair length is always the straight, stretched measurement from root to tip. Curly textures spring back when released. This is not a defect — it is an inherent characteristic of curly and wavy hair. If your target worn length is 18 inches with a kinky curl texture, select a 22–24 inch product to account for shrinkage.
Hair Density Guide
Hair density describes how thick or full the hair on a wig or extension weft appears. It is expressed as a percentage of hair relative to a base standard (typically 130% is considered the industry baseline for a natural, everyday look). Higher density means more hair and a fuller, heavier appearance. Lower density mimics the look of finer natural hair.
Density is separate from hair quality (human vs. synthetic) and hair length. A 130% density 16-inch wig and a 180% density 16-inch wig will be the same length but will look and feel noticeably different in fullness. Most products on our site state the density in the product title or description. Use the chart to the right to choose the right level for your preference.
For lace front wigs specifically, the density at the hairline is always lighter than at the interior of the cap, regardless of the overall percentage stated. This is by design — it creates a natural-looking hairline that does not appear overly thick at the front.
| Density % | Visual Fullness | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| 80–100% | Light / Fine | Natural fine hair look; medical hair loss; lightweight comfort for long daily wear |
| 110–130% | Natural / Medium | Standard everyday look; closest to average natural hair density; most popular choice |
| 150% | Medium-Full | Slightly thicker than natural; ideal for layered cuts or styles that lose volume |
| 180% | Full | Glamorous, full-body look; popular for photos, special events, and social content |
| 200–250% | Very Full / Bold | Maximum volume; glueless and big styles; heavier cap — not recommended for all-day wear without adjustment straps |
| 300% | Extra Bold | Editorial and fashion looks; high-drama volume; significant weight; sold by select product listings only |

| Heat Protectant Spray | Standard | 4 fl oz / 8 fl oz | 118 ml / 237 ml | 4 fl oz ≈ 30–50 applications; 8 fl oz ≈ 60–100 applications |
US vs. Canadian Labeling Convention: Products shipped to Canadian addresses may display volume in metric units (ml, g) only, or dual-labeled with both fl oz and ml, depending on the manufacturer. The FDA (US) requires net quantity in both metric and US customary units on cosmetic labels (21 C.F.R. § 701.13). Health Canada similarly requires metric as the primary unit under the Weights and Measures Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. W-6). All hair care products sold on our site comply with the labeling requirements of their destination jurisdiction.
Accessories & Headwear Size Reference
Head scarves, headbands, elastic hair ties, and similar accessories sold at Your Hair And Wig are designed to fit a wide range of head sizes. Use the reference table and product-specific notes to confirm the correct size before ordering.
Head Scarves & Wraps
Our head scarves are sold in one standard size. Dimensions vary by product but typically measure 35 x 35 inches (89 x 89 cm) for square scarves and 22 x 22 inches (56 x 56 cm) for smaller accessories. The fabric composition (cotton, polyester, silk blend) and stretch percentage are listed in each product description. All scarves labeled "Soft and Simple Style" are designed to fit head circumferences of 20–24 inches (51–61 cm) when tied or knotted.
Fabric content is disclosed on the product label in accordance with the US Textile Fiber Products Identification Act (15 U.S.C. §§ 70–70k) and Canadian Textile Labelling Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. T-10). Country of origin is also disclosed as required by 19 U.S.C. § 1304 for US customers and the Textile Labelling Act for Canadian customers.
Elastic Hair Ties & Bands
Hair ties and elastic bands are sold in multi-pack quantities (our 100-piece packs are a popular listing). The elastic diameter at rest is typically 1.5–2 inches (3.8–5 cm). Stretched diameter accommodates most hair thicknesses. These products are not sized to head circumference — they are applied to gathered hair, not worn around the head.
Multi-pack accessories state the quantity clearly in the product title and description. The 100-piece black elastic band sets include bands of uniform size within the pack. If a mixed-size pack is offered, the size breakdown is listed in the product description.
Cluster Lashes & Eye Accessories
Cluster lashes (such as our 12 Rows of 150 Segmented Lashes product) are sold in pre-packaged rows. Size in this product category refers to the number of clusters or the band length, not a head measurement. Lash band lengths are typically 30–33 mm per cluster to fit standard eye shapes. These products are cosmetic accessories; application guidance is provided in the product listing.
These items are classified as cosmetic accessories under the FD&C Act and Health Canada's Food and Drugs Act. They must comply with applicable cosmetic safety standards. All lash adhesives, if included, are listed separately in the product description with a full ingredient disclosure.
One-Size-Fits-Most Products
Several accessory products on our site are labeled "one size fits most" or "one size fits all." This designation applies to products designed to comfortably fit head circumferences between 20.5 and 23.5 inches (52–60 cm), which covers the majority of adult wearers. The product listing confirms whether a "one size" designation applies to children, adults, or both.
If a product you are considering is not addressed in the tables above and does not include sizing information in the product listing, contact us before purchasing at info@yourhairandwig.com or use the live chat during business hours. We will confirm the dimensions or connect you with the manufacturer's specification sheet.
US & Canadian Sizing Standards
Because we ship to both the United States and Canada, product dimensions, weights, and labeling on this site must comply with the measurement and disclosure requirements of both countries. Here is how those requirements affect the sizing information on our product listings.
- Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (15 U.S.C. §§ 1451–1461): All cosmetic and consumer product labels must display the net quantity in both US customary units (fl oz, oz, lb) and metric units (ml, g, kg). Our product listings reflect this dual-labeling standard.
- Textile Fiber Products Identification Act (15 U.S.C. §§ 70–70k): All textile products — including wigs, weaves, headwear, and accessories — must disclose fiber content by generic name and percentage by weight. Our product descriptions include this information for every applicable listing.
- FTC Hair Fiber Products Labeling (16 C.F.R. Part 257): Specific requirements for wigs, hairpieces, extensions, and weaves. Product origin type (human vs. synthetic) must be clearly disclosed. Hair length claims must be accurate when the hair is measured straight.
- National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST): The US does not mandate metric-only labeling for most consumer goods, but all measurements on our site include both inches and centimeters to ensure clarity for all customers regardless of their preferred unit system.
- Country of Origin Marking (19 U.S.C. § 1304): All imported products sold in the United States must be clearly marked with the country of origin on the product or its packaging. Our product listings disclose country of origin for every applicable product.
- Weights and Measures Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. W-6): Canada mandates metric units (ml, g, cm) as the primary measurement system. All products we ship to Canadian addresses display metric measurements. Where both units are shown, metric appears first.
- Textile Labelling Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. T-10): All textile products (scarves, wigs, headbands, weaves) shipped to Canada must be labeled with fiber content by generic name and percentage by mass, in both English and French. Country of origin and manufacturer information must also be disclosed.
- Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. C-38): Net quantity declarations on consumer product packaging must appear in metric units. This applies to all hair care products (shampoos, conditioners, oils, masks) shipped to Canadian customers.
- Official Languages Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. 31): All mandatory label information on products sold in Canada must appear in both English and French. This includes fiber content disclosures, net quantity statements, and care instructions on textile products.
- Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (S.C. 2010, c. 21): General consumer product safety obligations apply to all non-cosmetic products we ship to Canada, including styling tools, hair accessories, and headwear. Products must not pose unreasonable danger and must meet applicable safety standards.
Size & Fit FAQ
Common questions about measurements, sizing, and what to do if a product does not fit as expected.
-
When a wig listing shows only one size with no further cap size options, it typically means the cap is built to average/medium dimensions (approximately 22–22.5 inches / 55.9–57.2 cm circumference) with adjustable straps that allow the cap to be tightened or loosened. Most adult wearers with a head circumference between 21.5 and 23 inches (54.6–58.4 cm) will find a one-size listing with adjustable straps fits comfortably. If your measurement falls outside this range, contact us before ordering to confirm the exact cap dimensions.
-
A "petite" cap (sometimes also called XS or mini) is the smallest size available, designed for head circumferences of 20.5–21.5 inches (52–54.5 cm). A "small" cap fits 21.5–22.0 inches (54.5–55.9 cm). The practical difference is most noticeable at the temple area — a petite cap is narrower ear-to-ear and shorter front-to-nape than a small. If you fall between these two sizes, choose the small with adjustable straps rather than the petite without straps, as straps give you more flexibility.
-
No — this is expected behavior for curly and wavy textures. All hair lengths stated in product listings are measured from root to tip when the hair is pulled straight. A 20-inch curly wig may visually appear to be 13–16 inches when worn naturally because the curl pattern causes the strands to coil back on themselves. This is not a defect and does not qualify as a sizing error. Please refer to the Texture & Appearance tab in the Hair Length section of this guide before selecting a length for curly styles.
-
Circumference is the primary cap size factor, but some wearers have heads that are proportionally wider (ear-to-ear) even within the same circumference range. If the cap fits your circumference but feels tight across the top, you may have a wider or more rounded head shape. In this case, try the next cap size up before requesting a return — for products with adjustable straps, the straps at the nape can be loosened to give the entire cap slightly more room. If the issue persists, contact us at info@yourhairandwig.com and we can advise on which specific products in our catalog have wider crown sections.
-
For an 18-inch body wave or straight sew-in, most customers with average to thick natural hair require 2–3 bundles. If you are doing a full sew-in without a closure (leaving no natural hair out), 3 bundles is the standard recommendation. If you are using a 4x4 or 5x5 closure, 2 bundles is typically sufficient. For a 13x4 frontal install, 2 bundles is standard for straight textures; curly textures may need 3 bundles for the same fullness. These are general guidelines — your stylist's recommendation based on your natural hair coverage will be the most accurate.
-
Returns for sizing issues are governed by our Refund and Return Policy. Generally, a wig that has not been worn, styled, or altered may be returned within our return window if it does not fit as described in the product listing. If you measured correctly using this guide and the product did not match the stated cap dimensions, that constitutes a product discrepancy and we will resolve it. If the product fit within the stated size range but your head falls outside that range, we recommend contacting us before purchase so we can confirm compatibility. For all return inquiries, email info@yourhairandwig.com.
-
The term "glueless" means the wig is designed to be secured using combs, adjustable straps, and elastic bands that come built into the cap — without requiring bonding glue or tape along the hairline. This is a construction description, not a guarantee that the wig will remain in place in all situations without any additional securing method. For active wear, outdoor use in wind, or extended wear beyond 8 hours, most wearers use additional light-hold wig grips, headbands, or a thin layer of wig tape even with glueless caps. The product listing for each glueless wig describes which securing components are included.
